Here are my two 22ah (amp hour) gel cell batteries. You may have noticed that I wired the two batteries together in "parallel", which means the amperage is added but the voltage stays the same. A lot of hams would use smaller, less powered batteries in order to not have to carry weightier batteries like these. But I'd rather have power when needed. Which is also why I have a Yaesu FT-857D and not a Yaesu FT-817. Why limit yourself to the lower power of the Yaesu FT-817 when you can adjust the Yaesu FT-857D's power from 1 watt to 100 watts? The Yaesu FT-817 does not go above 10 watts. Photo taken on Sat, May 28, 2011
