Here is my 10 foot in length, LMR-600 Outer loop, magnetic loop antenna. This loop is less efficient than my 12, 15, or 16 foot in length outer loops, but it does hold well. No need for horizontal support.I was able to make contact with K9CT, NV9L (male, not the gorgeous blond) and V26M from inside my bedroom. Photo taken on Sun, March 05, 2017
